Levels of Care at Brookdale
Drug & Alcohol Residential Treatment
Residential treatment at Brookdale Recovery serves as an integral step in the recovery process. After a patient has successfully completed the detoxification process and has been cleared by our medical staff, they may begin the transition into our residential program. During residential care, patients will work closely with our clinical team, delving deeper into the root causes of their addiction and developing healthy coping strategies
to begin healing.
We are a patient-centered treatment facility that intuitively understands every patient’s path to recovery is different.
As such, Brookdale has developed a team of highly skilled, credentialed professionals who are dedicated in providing best practices, treating each patient with the deepest level of dignity, respect, and compassion.
Our generous staff–to–patient ratio of 1:6 allows us to treat each patient individually, relating to them on a more intimate, human level. Addiction is a disease of separation, oftentimes leaving the suffering individual feeling alone, misunderstood, and isolated. Through our collaborative approach to care, we can build a relationship of trust and understanding, which allows patients to begin experiencing the love and acceptance they have long been seeking.
Before patients are ready to leave our care, they will know that Brookdale is, and always will be, their home and safe haven.

Drug & Alcohol Detoxification Program
Detoxification, otherwise known as detox, is a crucial first step in the treatment and recovery process. During this stage of care, medical staff and clinicians will work closely with the patient to rid the body of addictive substances, while managing the physical and emotional discomforts that may develop. Although this process can seem scary, when implemented under medical supervision, the patient is able to withdraw in a safe and comfortable manner.
While detox is necessary for many Brookdale patients, it is merely the first phase in ongoing care. Considering the complexity of substance use disorders, it is imperative that treatment approaches address every aspect of the disease, including mind, body, and spirit. This is done through a continuum of care, including various clinical modalities, medical services, family education, health and wellness, aftercare support and much more.
Upon entering Brookdale’s Detox Program, patients will be triaged in preparation for the next level of care. In order to determine the most appropriate and beneficial treatment plans, our medical team will perform an individualized evaluation of the patient’s need, history, medical concerns, mental health or co-occurring disorders and any other contributing factors.
Our primary goal at Brookdale Recovery is to provide each patient with compassionate, quality care while ensuring their safety and comfort. Upon arrival to our medically managed detoxification unit, nursing and medical personnel will respond rapidly to patient needs while gathering information, similar to how hospital emergency departments function. Once working diagnoses are established and urgent care is initiated, our Medical Department can then refine treatment plans to encompass both medical and nonmedical interventions addressing all underlying conditions.
Alongside 24-hour medical and nursing supervision, a novel feature of Brookdale’s detox unit is that each patient will be seen by liaison personnel throughout the course of detox, beginning their first day. Our clinical detox supervisor will provide education and counseling services while patients are in the unit, and serve as an essential intermediate between nursing, medical staff and the next phase of care.
Aftercare Planning and Continued Care
Another key component of Brookdale Recovery’s programming is aftercare planning and continued care. We have partnered with a diverse group of aftercare providers which we believe is a crucial foundation to both early and long-term recovery. Life after treatment is an especially fragile time, so this network of providers will serve as a road map and key to a successful recovery journey, providing the necessary support resources and tools to overcome obstacles the patient may potentially face.
This integrative aftercare plan offers each patient an individualized continuum of care specifically built and driven by the patient’s personal needs, circumstances and areas of opportunity. Upon discharge, the patient will have a collaboratively developed plan that offers support and services in their community to aid in their goal of sobriety. Because each aftercare plan is designed to address the specific needs of the individual, no two plans are exactly alike.
Some components of aftercare planning may include:
- Partial hospitalization programming (PHP)
- Intensive outpatient programming (IOP)
- Outpatient programming (OP)
- Sober living/halfway houses
- Private therapy
- Family therapy
- Referral to vocational rehabilitation
- Referral to legal assistance
- Referral to mental health or co-occurring disorder treatment
- Participation in 12-step support groups i.e. A.A. & N.A.
