Currently, there is no “cure” for addiction. Addiction is a chronic condition similar in some ways to diabetes and heart disease. Like those conditions, the symptoms of addiction can be managed. The risks of addiction, such as overdoses, assaults and legal problems, can be completely avoided with treatment.

A co-occurring condition is a combination of a mental health disorder with a substance use disorder. While this is a very complex condition, co-occurring conditions are treatable.
